Florida’s public holidays in 2018 are a perfect time for exploring the “Sunshine State” and experiencing beaches and other popular attractions.
During 2018, there will be six extended weekends in Florida created by such public holidays as Memorial Day, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day, which, although it falls on a Sunday in 2018, will be observed on the following Monday. Additionally, Florida is among the half or so of U.S. states that officially observe “Thanksgiving Friday.”
Things to see and do in Florida in 2018
Florida holds nearly endless treasures and tourist “hot spots” to discover on your public holidays in 2018, among them these:
Miami Beach, the famed resort town located on a barrier island just offshore from Miami. Take in the sun on South Beach, tour the historic and colorful Art Deco District, or relax at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
Sarasota, where you will find a number of pristine beach strands, including Lido and Siesta Beaches. You can also learn of Sarasota’s “circus connection” at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
Pensacola, a city renown for both its natural beauty and its deep cultural heritage. Walk the boardwalk and enjoy the warm waters of Pensacola Beach, see nature firsthand on the nearby isle called “Perdido Key,” and revel in Pensacola’s past at Historic Pensacola Village and the National Naval Museum.
